On one hand there are the lines, the geometrics, and the parallels that link fashion and architecture, on the other there is music and the creativity of new talents.
All of these important – if not essential – elements make up the DNA of Costume National, and it was with this in mind that we played at bringing all of these aspects together in the images of this photo editorial. The protagonists of the shoot are actually the members of the up-and-coming Italian band Dumbo gets Mad, who like to define themselves not so much as a band, but rather as a psychedelic avant-garde musical movement. The musician-models bared their talent for fun-filled entertainment to the lens of the young Italian-American photographer, Adrianna Glaviano – who styled these shots with the assistance of the equally youthful Dimitra Louana Marlanti, with the art direction of Valentina Cameranesi – composing an entirely new perspective that juxtaposes macro-frames with close-ups, and constructivism with details of tailoring, architecture and fabrics, in a carefully balanced visual narrative.
