Sergei Sviatchenko // Close Up And Private

A born architect who grew into an artist, only to reinvent himself as a photographer, blogger and fashion fundi, or rather, a connoisseur of style.

Sergei Sviatchenko, 59 – Ukrainian by birth but resident in Denmark – is a multifaceted personality: he is the man behind the iconic blog Close Up and Private, adulated and celebrated by the press and gurus of male fashion from around the world.

What holds all of these aspects together? A boundless love for details and line, the characteristics that led him to rewrite an aesthetic manifesto from a contemporary point of view, a perspective that he defines as Modern Classicism, his very own sweet obsession.

Over and above the blog, Sergei first came into the limelight thanks to his collage art, a discipline in which he is considered one of the most important living protagonists. A collector and expert of the Beatles, and renowned artist with many exhibitions on the go – one of which is dedicated to the maestro Andrei Tarkovsky, from whose family he has recieved more than one endorsement – Sviatchenko was awarded as Denmark’s Best Dressed Man in 2010 by the fashion magazine Euroman.
